Oulujoki river bridges

The project consists of four bridges at the delta of the Oulujoki river in Finland. The bridges are part of the circular pedestrian route through two islands. It connects an island to the mainland, serving as a popular pass for strolls among both the inhabitants and visitors of the city of Oulu. Though located close to the city center and its lively market square, Finnish nature is profoundly present.

WHEN LESS IS MORE
The lighting solution complements the landscape, the four seasons, and the changing conditions of natural light in Scandinavia. There is a dialogue between the landscape, visual coherence, and natural atmospherics. The icy, cold-colored vertical fixtures stand next to the grounding, earth-toned, continuous grazed light. Together they create a visual frame, create a strong, horizontal lining that lets the surrounding nature chime through all year round.

SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL

A good lighting design is ensured to keep its aesthetic value for decades – becoming not an effect, but a part of nature. Aiming to seize the moment, simple and beautiful.
