Thousands of LED lights have been integrated under the steel wings, allowing the building’s appearance to be transformed according to the nature of events. Another distinctive and unique element is 50 tall light poles that form a ‘forest of light’.
The façade is subtly illuminated with an uplight wash, emphasizing the building’s massive and protective wings.
The lighting for the courtyard stairs and areas is designed to a human scale. The stair lighting creates a stage-like impression of the theatre upon arrival at the building.
Interior Lighting
In the lobby of the Wuxi Grand Theatre, the random placement of luminaires is designed to create the impression of light filtering through trees and foliage.
The massive opera hall is one of the main elements of the building and its lighting. Bamboo as a material gives a natural impression and creates a unique playground for lighting. The forms allow for a unique play of light and shadow, which has been meticulously designed. The ceiling and the luminaires arranged on it form a sun-like ‘chandelier’ for the entire hall.
