Facade lighting of the National Museum

For Finland’s centenary year, the National Museum’s illumination focused on the most prominent parts of the building for visitors. The lighting design has made the National Museum’s tower and main entrance attractive and easily discernible. Crucially, the visual impact has not been compromised by excessive brightness. The lighting also integrates elements that support the museum’s activities.

The building’s diverse materials have been illuminated in a way that highlights their unique form and color, with careful consideration given to the fundamental architectural character. The design competition jury also positively noted the integration of windows as part of the lighting concept. The lighting system is technically modern and highly adaptable.
